Welcome, friends of Água Boa!
What an incredible, action-packed week we’ve just had at the Água Boa Amazon Lodge, thanks to a fantastic group of South African anglers.
A huge thank you to Mike and Mavungana for organizing this trip, and a shoutout to the whole crew: Andre, Monthy, Nick, Gary, David, Greg, Mark, Johan, Keith, Bryan, Rob, Henry, and Mike McFarlane. Thank you all for seven days of pure fun!
Right now, the Água Boa River is looking stunning. The golden beaches emerge from the crystal-clear waters like striking dunes, perfectly framed by the lush, deep green of the Amazon riverbanks.
Now, onto the fishing! The action was relentless. We saw an exceptional variety of species caught, photographed, and safely released. As for the exact sizes and numbers? I’ll keep those a secret and let you be the judge when you visit us this season!
One of the absolute highlights of the week was the heavy-weight battles provided by five massive Arapaima. Combine that with aggressive Payaras and a host of other local species, and it’s easy to see why our guests left with giant smiles—and a lingering wish that they could have stayed just a few days longer.
This is the true Água Boa experience: incomparable and wild. This is the world of fly fishing.
