Welcome, friends of Água Boa Amazon Lodge!
Saturday marked the end of another fantastic week of fishing. While we are always excited to welcome new faces, we certainly miss those who have just departed. Fortunately, the memories of the great times and incredible fishing we shared will remain.

The river level has stayed stable, though it is still lower than normal for this time of year. Here in November, we are already seeing a landscape we typically wouldn’t expect until January.

A special thank you to Scott Hamilton for bringing another group of old friends, and for the new friendships we forged this week. Butch, Kyle, and Mark—it is always a pleasure to enjoy your company. Tony, Rufus, Melinda, and Shane—it was wonderful to meet you all. For those who were scheduled to visit us this week but had to cancel, we hope to see you next season.

This was a prolific week, both in the number of fish caught and their size. We landed several specimens weighing between 10 and 14 lbs, along with a good number exceeding that mark. All our guests are taking home beautiful photos and excellent memories.

However, the fish often win the battle, which happened several times this week. This unpredictable duel between fish and angler creates the magical bond that keeps people coming back.

The diversity of species caught—and promptly released—was extraordinary: Arapaima, Arowana, Payara, Dogfish, Piranha, and Wolffish, among others.

Given the current water levels, fishing with poppers has been an incredible experience, offering spectacular surface strikes and unforgettable moments. While it may not be as consistently effective as fishing with streamers, the excitement level is unmatched.

We still highly recommend intermediate and floating lines, though you are welcome to bring other setups. Essential gear includes 40- and 50-lb tippet, finger tape, and stripping guards. Other indispensable items are sunscreen, insect repellent, and a high-quality pair of polarized sunglasses. As a reminder, our complete gear recommendations are available online.

On a special note, please pay close attention to the entry requirements for Brazil. All U.S. citizens require a visa. The entire process is handled online, but please do not leave it until the last minute, as the application can take days or even weeks to process.
See you next week,
The Água Boa Team
