Greetings peacock fans and welcome back to the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report! So far 2017 has been a great year for us here at the Lodge. The water levels are good and the fish are eager to take the fly and are very hard fighting. Last week the weather remained consistent with what we are used to in a typical January.
We continued to have partly sunny skies, moderate breeze and hot afternoons. The water dropped about a foot overall last week but rain showers Sunday of this week halted the dropping trend and the water has risen again about a foot. We are pleased to inform you that despite the rise that the Agua Boa River remains clear and is fishing well. Last week we had a small group here at the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge, which allowed us to tackle maintenance projects, repair the walkways and take some time for the crew to relax. One of the highlights of the downtime was the first annual Guide Golf Scramble. Once again this year the Agua Boa Links is open for business and Jonathan, Preto, Bacaba and Joseph snuck in around last Friday.
The action was hot but Preto and Jonathan prevailed and claimed the first club championship. Enjoy a shot of the guys unwinding on a light week here at the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge! One other update from the sports desk, this year we have continued our guest sponsored Thursday night casting series among the guides. As always, this year’s competitions have been a ton of fun for the guides and our guests. However, unlike most years where there has been a variety of different champions atop the podium every week, one guide has dominated the weekly championship. Congratulations to Caboclo for his fine performance and consistent casting week in and week out this 2016-2017 season. Enjoy a shot of Caboclo making his signature sweet cast! Today is Tuesday of a new week of Anglers, the fishing has remained hot on the Agua Boa. In typical Peacock fashion, the fishing has been a series of lulls and frenzies. Thus far this week we have not had any monsters to hand but a couple of break-offs have shown the guests that they are out there and eager to grab.
