Greetings Peacock Fans and welcome back to the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report! Last week was another great week here at the Agua Boa. As always, we like to take the opportunity to thank our booking agents that help fill the lodge throughout the season. Last week we had a group hosted by Jon Fisher, owner of the Urban Angler fly shop in New York City.
Over the years, Jon has sent many anglers to the lodge but this year was his first visit to fish with us here at the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge. Thanks Jon it was great having you here and thanks for the business over the years. Last week was once again a great representation of our two favorite “F” words. Fish and Fun! One of Urban Anglers guests took the concept of fun to the whole next level. John Kelley from London brought with him a bag full of tricks and a ton of laughs. As we have learned John brings a different costume with him everywhere he fishes. At the Agua Boa this year John brought his Elvis get up, complete with wig and shades. Check out a couple shots of Elvis, one fishing and one with the guides. Besides being one hell of a funny guy John Kelley is also a huge advocate for the sport of fly fishing. He and his son are putting on a the first fly fishing expo in London on March 10th and 11th, to help grow the sport in the UK. Check out the link to the expo and if you’re a Londoner stop by the show.
The London Fly Fishing Fair. As mentioned in last week’s report we had a tremendous amount of rain last Sunday. In fact, it rained for fourteen straight hours which is very rare here this time of year. The river climbed throughout the week and the level raised a total of four feet. Initially the fishing slowed down mid-week but towards the end of the week the fish had acclimated and were back on the bite. The water did get cloudy after the sustained rain but has cleared and is fishable for sure. The only down side is that there is far less sight fishing at this level and a majority of the fish have been caught blind casting. Check out a nice double caught last week!
At this level, we continue to use intermediate lines in general. However, if you are coming in the next couple of weeks it might not be a bad idea to pack your 250 or 300 grain sink tip. Thanks for checking the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report and we look forward to seeing you soon!
