Welcome friends of Água Boa
The whisper of the forest echoes over the waters.
Just as the native once left the village, stepped into his wooden canoe, and used rhythmic paddling to drag parrot feathers tied to a hook hoping to attract the Peacock Bass to his colorful bait.

Today at Água Boa Amazon Lodge, we follow the same principle to practice the enchanting art of fly fishing.
Flies with striking colors, fishing rods with advanced technology, lines that defy gravity, and passionate fishermen—this is the actual scene , the activity that fascinates and leaves us ecstatic.

The days have been sunny, with some intermittent rain, yet the water level continues to slowly recede.
The caimans spread across the white sand beaches, mouths open and gazing at the horizon .

Thank you, Guy Schoenborn (FWL), for another extraordinary group of people. It was a pleasure to host Bob and Susan Mueller, Mike M and Mike S, Mark and Pat Flood, as well as Russ, John, Alan, John A,Les and Katherine.
On a special note, congratulations to Bob and Susan who chose our location to celebrate 33 years of marriage and a shared passion (fly fishing).

And yes, although Thanksgiving is not a tradition in Brazil, we didn’t forget to prepare the traditional turkey!
The fishing this week was good, nothing exceptional, but the numbers were solid.
Our river is so healthy, and the number of fish inhabiting its waters is extraordinary, though sometimes it’s necessary to remove the smaller fish from the path to finally be able to photograph the much-desired specimen.

Congratulations to Bob on the two 17 lb Peacock Bass photographed on the last day! It seems like a plot from a TV fishing show (always at the last minute of the last day), but it also happens in real life.
Like Bob, the other fishing friends also had their trophies. Kathy fought a hard battle with an Arapaima between 80 and 100 lb, but the fish won after about 15 minutes of fighting. Congratulations, Kathy, and congratulations to the unknown fish that continues to swim freely in the waters of our beloved river.

The number of species was exactly what we are accustomed to and what Água Boa normally presents to those who visit us.With the rain that appeared at some points during the week, the no-see-ums also arrived.

It is recommended to have a good insect repellent in each fisherman’s bag.
These tiny creatures are powerful and leave some marks, so even if they only appear sporadically, it’s good to be prepared.
All other recommendations are in previous posts and available in our literature. Reading these reports is not a waste of time; it can help make the week more enjoyable and facilitate the day-to-day fishing.

If we started this post with an image of the natives in their traditional way of fishing for Peacock Bass, we end with an image of these same natives dancing and celebrating because the fishing was good, and their families are fed.
Here we celebrate that the minds of our fishing friends are nourished by a week of memorable moments…
Because the fish, that one returns to its natural habitat…
See you next week
Água Boa Team
