The year 2026 has arrived with all its pomp and circumstance. The Água Boa Amazon Lodge team wishes all our clients and friends a Happy New Year filled with extraordinary fishing trips, unique experiences, and unforgettable moments in nature. We extend these wishes to the entire fly fishing community—may this new year be full of great adventures.
Everything is proceeding beautifully here. The golden sand beaches are growing longer every day as the river level continues to drop.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to David, Meridith, Stephan, Steve Jackson, and Wyatt for sharing the New Year’s week with us. We are certain that the memories of those good times have stayed with you since the moment we said goodbye.
It was a successful week of fishing with a good number of fish caught and released.
We saw a variety of species that is truly only possible here at Água Boa, and as always, expectations were met.
This has truly been the season of the Pirarucu. Each week, they have shown a great willingness to chase the fly, providing the extraordinary fight they are known for.
Of course, sometimes the battle ends prematurely,as is often the case with these giants, the fish frequently wins the battle!
With the water levels dropping, the main attraction is sight fishing. Even with lower water, we recommend using an intermediate line,this ensures that the moment you start your strip, the fly maintains the proper depth.
However, we recommend other lines as well; there is nothing quite like the thrill of watching a ferocious Tucunaré chase down a surface lure.
As 2026 begins, we receive the new year with great joy. While 2025 was a wonderful year, we expect even better things for the season ahead.
