Welcome back all you Peacock Lovers to the Valentine’s Day edition of the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report. Whether you’ve already left your heart on the Agua Boa, or you’re still cruising Match.com for that perfect peacock of your own, you’ve found the perfect place to pursue your dreams of peacock bass on the fly.

As a case in point, last week we hosted a group comprised of both Peacock newbies and veterans of several previous trips with other fishing operations in the Amazon. The guys arrived to find the unseasonably high waters from the heavy rain of a few weeks back in steady retreat. And although the first half of the week featured cool temperatures and brief showers daily, the river dropped steadily throughout the week. Without exception, everyone found some great fishing and a fun, relaxing adventure in the Equatorial Rainforest.

Veteran Peacock anglers, Dan Roberson and Terry Malone, returned from their second day on the water each reporting that they had had their best-ever day of peacock fishing upriver with guide, Caboclo. Nothing like playing the rest of the week with “house money!”

After a full day of action they were happy to cool off in the pool and settle in for a comfortable evening. Here’s a photo of Dan with one of the countless nice fish he landed.

In addition to the daily peacock parade, with the “cooler” weather, light-rod action around the dock was also good especially in the mornings and evenings. What could be better than finishing up your fishing day with a Tenkara rod in one hand and a Caipirinha in the other? Just keep one eye out for “Rex,” the resident caiman whose interest in your pacu could easily lead to a bigger grab than you were bargaining for!

The rain over the last month has meant that the fairways on the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Golf Course have been in excellent condition. Last week everyone got in some good swings after fishing and even took an interest in training some of the guides in the art of caddying.

Here’s a photo of the golfers with guides, Ricardo and Preto and everyone’s favorite bartender, John, working some extra time to improve their resumes.

Muito Obrigado for checking in with the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report.

Until next week, “FORE!!!”
