Bem Vindo, tucunare amantes, to the final installment of the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report for the 2017-18 season.

With only one week remaining on the books, we happily wind down into another wet season, hopeful for plenty of rain over the next six months to flood the varzea forest and recharge the system. As for now, the river remains low and clear with great fishing every day on the water for our guests. What a little slice of paradise we have here in the wilds of Amazonia!

Last week, we were joined by an experienced Flywater Travel Company group led by none other than old friend and ace photographer, Jon Covich, making a first visit to the waters of the Agua Boa. As is the rule, everyone quickly settled into the easy rhythm of a week of fishing here enjoying the sights, sounds, and surprises on tap every day out there. Along the way, everyone enjoyed some spectacular fishing, highlighted by one day in which two guests, David Berkeley and Jay Beckstead, landed 134 (yes, they were counting!) peacocks with guide, Caboclo, urging them on. Needless to say, they were a bit tired and sore (and happily dazed) as they cradled their caipirinhas at day’s end.

While the bigger ASUs are becoming notably more skittish as the low water persists, plenty of trophy-class fish were landed throughout the week.

Enjoy these pics of a couple of nice ones seen here posing with an ex-commercial pilot and off-color joke collector, Jeff Stark, and former Key Arena Priority Patron # 000006, John Crowser.

As we wrap up here at the lodge, special thanks go out to everyone on the staff, who commit 6 months of their year make this adventure possible. Without the consistent effort of each member of the team, from all the guides to the wait staff, the cleaning crew, the kitchen, and the maintenance chief, we would have a hard time maintaining the high standard of service and comfort that distinguish Agua Boa Amazon Lodge is a world-class angling destination. Obrigado to each and every one of you!

And of course thanks to all the great guests, agents, and dedicated friends of the lodge. This truly wouldn’t be possible without you and your support each and every season. We are always looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones when October comes and we roll into another season on the high bank above the incredible Rio Agua Boa. Enjoy a safe and happy wet season wherever you may roam.
