Greetings Agua Boa faithful and welcome back to the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report. In this our third installment of the Report for the 2016-2017 season we are worried that we may sound like broken record or that we repeat ourselves or that you might think that we graduated from the famous Peacock Bass School of Redundancy School. Well, guilty as charged….therefore for the third week in a row we must proclaim, “It´s Popper Time on the Agua Boa.”
Yes indeed, matching the previous two weeks, the largest peacock last week was once again landed on a popper. John Holpuch was able to corral a “Grande” Acu on a Popper. He had a gang of Paca (spotted Peacock) in a frenzy when he hooked a nice one which came unbuttoned, then on his follow up cast he hooked and landed the fish of the week. Way to go John! Check out a shot of John with another nice catch! In addition to catching big fish on poppers John has also added one nice twist to his fishing repertoire. When John gets to a new spot, right before his first cast hits the water, he declares, “Let´s get the Paca Party Started!” Correct indeed John and quite a Paca Party it has been this year at the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge!
Peacock veterans Phil Lighty and Chuck Berthold also got in on the action last week. Of course, they caught their share of Peacocks but they also ended the week landing back to back Arowana. Way to go guys and thanks for coming back year after year to the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge. Check out a shot of Phil with a great Arowana! Obviously, in the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge Fishing Report, we focus on delivering the news on the fishing. However last week´s guest Kevin Lynch helped remind us of the incredible natural environment that surrounds the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge. Through the lens of his camera, Kevin was able to capture a number of spectacular wildlife moments. Enjoy a shot that Kevin took of a Saki Monkey and then one of Kevin on the other side of the lens. As reported last week the Agua Boa River has maintained a consistent water level, dropping very little in the last two weeks. In addition, the weather has been mostly cloudy and breezy which has made for a more comfortable jungle fishing environment.
